We went to Hornbake Library and looked many old books. I was surprised because there were so many old Japanese books in the library. A librarian taught us interesting things.
Afterwards we went bowling. I played with Ayumi, Sahori, Nobuya and Masahiro. First, I didn’t want to play because I’m not good at playing bowling. But, especially this game I’m very god at playing bowling. My score was 149:-) I was a champion!!
And we went to Targets in order to buy our souvenirs. It was very big shops and there were many kind of things I bought some foods for my family and friends. I satisfied because I could buy what I wanted to buy. I want to ate them fast^^b

In the capital, there were lots of bronze statues in it but I didn’t know their names almost all of them. And we stood the center of the washinton.DC. It was a rare experience for us!And then, we went back to CP in order to eat dinner. We ate Middle Eastern food and it was so delicious! I want to eat it again!

Go to Nikki's house

We went to the Voice of America and looked around in. There were many rooms and people and a lot of equipment. I could know a little about broadcast media.
We got back to our hotel, and then I and Kyoko and saaya went to Nikki’s apartment. We saw her many photos and were surprised because not so many Japanese collect many photos. We also played Mario cart. It was very fun! Her apartment was large. After, we went to Nikki’s house. It was pretty big!! I want to live such house someday. We enjoyed playing many games, eating delicious foods and talking. Nikki’s families were so kind people. They welcomed us warmly. We could spend very good time at Nikki’s house!!

American historical places

Thursday, we heard very interesting presentation at the Inter-American Development Bank. Inside of it, it didn’t look like a bank. It was very beautiful. There were many national flags and a water fountain. Ms. Miyakawa described us many things and guided us. We could go to the room of the director’s Board room. I’m interested in working at developing countries, so I asked her some questions. Her answers were interesting for me.
Friday, we watched a baseball game. I’m not so familiar with baseball, but I enjoyed watching a baseball very much:-) Afterwards, we also saw some fireworks. I like it, so I was happy. Compared with Japanese one, I couldn’t satisfy it. But there were very colorful and beautiful.
Yesterday, we went to museum, memorials and Washington monument. Lincoln’s monument was so big that I was hard to take some photographs:-( During waiting for entering the Washington monument, Nikki taught us Animal games. We couldn’t do the game well, but finally, we could do it smoothly. I want to play more games!

At the Newseum

At the Newseum, we looked many things about broadcasting media. First, I ate lunch with Risa, Tomoko, Kyoko, and Nikki. I ate a lot because I couldn’t eat breakfast. I overslept. Afterwards, we walked around and went to the 4-D theater to see movie. The film was very interesting but I couldn’t understand much><;. There were many photos at the museum, too. The photos awarded a Pulitzer Prize attracted me. And I was surprised that few countries’ press can broadcast news freely. I thought that Japan is really free about religions and races. I didn’t realize the fact when I lived in Japan. So, it was good opportunity for me to go to Newseum.
After that, we went to Chinatown. I saw a big gate. It looked like the gate. I have seen almost the same gate at Yokohama city in Japan. We went around there and looked many Chinese goods.
At night, everyone went to play billiards. But I couldn’t go to with them because I was a bit tired. I heard that they enjoyed playing billiards very much. So I want to play it someday.

Pentagon City

We heard Dr.Hallion’s lecture about the history of American diplomacy. Then, some of the things she said, I have already studied when I was a student for an examination. So they were easy to understand for me. After the class, I met Joe and he took me to the Chinese food shop (maybe..). And I drank “bubble tea”. It called “TAPIOKA” in Japan and the taste was so good!
In the afternoon, we went to Pentagon City Mall. There was a big shopping mall. I bought some items. But I couldn’t buy anything for my family and classmates. So, I have to buy many foods as souvenir><;

very long day

We talked with students studying at the University of Maryland. I talked with two girls who are the same age as me. They study Japanese hard. I’m happy because they said “someday we want to go to Japan and touch Japanese culture.” We talked about a lot of things such as music, family and hobby and so on. They showed me their textbook. The contents of it were almost the same as the book I used at the English class in junior high school. After, we went to the Kennedy center. It was very big and beautiful building. I listened to jazz music there. It was the first time I listen to jazz music. I was surprised because it was free concert. In Japan, such event is very few. And we ate dinner at the sushi bar. Its tastes were different from Japanese one. After we ate dinner, we went back to our hotel by using metro. In that train, I was spoken to men suddenly. We talked until we arrived at the station we get off. Lastly, he gave to me a paper written his email address. It was so strange experience for me!! We backed to our hotel very late. So I was so sleepy. After all, I went to bed at 2 o’clock><

walking a lot!!

On Saturday, we went to the University of Maryland. The first impression of the university was that it is very big compared with our university!! And we were guided the university by our mentors, we walked a lot. At that time, I thought, it would be very hard for me to attend the class on time because I have to long walk to the classroom. We saw the turtle monument and touched its nose!! So, my grade was guaranteed, maybe ^^b. Next day, we went to Alexandria and Georgetown. I heard that Alexandria is historical city. I saw many old houses or shops there. Almost of them were made by bricks. It looks pretty for me. Georgetown was a big moll. I wanted to buy something, but I couldn’t buy anything because of the costs of the items were very expensive for me. But I was so fun because I could see and enter many shops!!

At the airport

There are various kinds of people in America. At the airport, I thought, there were many persons whose skins are black. For example, when I entered the USA, I asked some questions by the men whose skin was black. What’s your propose in America? Are you visiting alone? I was tempered at that time, but I barely answered such questions. So I could pass the gate. It was my first experience to enter another country.

The first day in America

Hi, my name is Misa Kitagawa. I’m a student in AGU. My major is international politics. There are some reasons I choose this summer program. One, I want to improve English. In America, there are many opportunities to speak English. Second, I want to see many historical buildings and have a lot of experiences. My first impressions in America were...There are many cute houses along the streets and Americans are really friendly!! During this program, we are going to visit many places. I’m so exited^^
